In our continuing series on slope protection works for a large-scale mixed-use development, we’re taking a closer look at a method that helps stabilize slopes while restoring their natural beauty: hydroseeding.
Before: a partially vegetated slope with early-stage planting and exposed soil

After: a greener, more resilient slope with full hydroseed coverage taking hold

✅ What is hydroseeding?
Hydroseeding is the process of spraying a slurry of seeds, mulch, fertilizer, and water directly onto the slope surface. It promotes rapid, uniform growth of vegetation, which not only enhances appearance but also anchors the soil to reduce runoff and erosion.
At this site, Ground Specialists, Inc. used hydroseeding as part of a multi-step slope protection system that also included soil nailing, non-frame stabilization, drainage canals, and erosion mats. Together, these methods created a slope that is both structurally sound and environmentally integrated — engineered to last, designed to grow.
