Project Profile: Slope Protection Works for a Solar Facility

Large-scale energy projects require not just advanced technology, but also safe and stable ground to support them. Ground Specialists, Inc. was contracted to provide slope protection for a solar power site built on a steep, bare embankment.

✅ What We Did
Our team implemented a mixed-method approach:

  • Cascading shotcrete and gabions to stabilize the main gully
  • Bioengineering solutions using coconets, kakawate, and vetiver grass to secure the slopes and encourage new vegetation

✅ Why It Matters
The site began as a bare open slope with no vegetation, leaving it vulnerable to erosion. By combining structural reinforcements with natural methods, we created a foundation for gradual slope recovery, strengthening the ground while giving newly planted greenery a chance to take root.

Engineered for safety. Designed for sustainability. That’s the GSI way.
