Behind every slope secured and every project delivered is a dedicated team of engineers. Today, we’re proud to introduce one of them: Engr. Jhon Bryan Zandueta Arciaga, Project Engineer I with GSI’s Operations Department.
A licensed civil engineer and safety officer, Engr. Arciaga brings both technical precision and a people-first approach to every site he handles. He earned his degree from the University of the Cordilleras and has spent the past two years at GSI working on excavation support, slope protection, and MSE wall construction. His projects have also included the use of innovative solutions like glass fiber reinforced polymer soil nails.
For him, engineering isn’t just a career — it’s the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. What he enjoys most about his work is solving problems alongside his team and watching plans take shape on the ground. As he puts it: “What makes the journey even more rewarding is the collaboration I share with my fellow engineers and the strong camaraderie I’ve built with the workers on site. These relationships foster a positive and productive environment, where teamwork and mutual respect drive our success.”
One of his proudest milestones was leading a complex excavation support project that tested his patience, resilience, and leadership. Guided by perseverance and teamwork, he and his crew overcame every obstacle, proving that even the toughest sites can be stabilized with skill and determination.
Outside the job, Engr. Arciaga finds balance in his passion for martial arts. A taekwondo practitioner and former men’s team captain at the University of the Cordilleras, he continues to carry the discipline, focus, and leadership he honed in sports into his engineering career.
At GSI, engineers like Engr. Arciaga remind us that it takes both expertise and heart to build safer, stronger foundations.
