For fifteen years, Engr. Genesis F. Solicfian has been part of GSI’s journey. His career has taken him from the remote terrains of Nueva Vizcaya to the forests of Mt. Apo, and through every kind of geotechnical challenge in between.
A licensed civil engineer from the University of Baguio with a Project Management postgraduate certificate from the Asian Institute of Management, Engr. Solicfian combines hands-on experience with a strong commitment to safety and progress. As GSI’s new Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager, he leads with both technical mastery and a strategic mindset.
Before stepping into his HSE leadership role, he managed multiple projects nationwide, handling slope protection, excavation support, and bioengineering works that honed his adaptability and shaped him into a true jack of all trades. Among these, one project in particular stands out: a multi-site operation completed under extreme conditions, including personnel shortages and even a 6.7 magnitude earthquake.
At GSI, he’s recognized for his practical leadership and his ability to take on multiple roles as the situation demands. His field experience taught him to manage people, systems, and safety simultaneously. These are skills he now uses to strengthen GSI’s safety standards.
Outside of work, Engr. Solicfian is into fitness, staying active and grounded amid his demanding career. His philosophy is rooted in faith and integrity:
“I would rather embrace the difficulties and struggles of following the Lord than bathe in comfort of the things that displease Him.”
