At the core of GSI’s engineering strength are people who combine technical expertise with real-world experience. One of them is Engr. Jerwin E. Raquedan, Design and Engineering Manager.

Now in his seventh year with Ground Specialists, Inc., Engr. Jerwin leads the Design and Engineering Section, ensuring that every slope protection solution is structurally sound, cost-efficient, and suited to site conditions.

A licensed civil engineer, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis University and is currently completing his Master’s in Civil Engineering (Construction Technology) at Bulacan State University. His work includes soil nailing, shotcreting, ground anchoring, wire-mesh installation, and other slope stabilization methods.

Among the many projects he has handled, a milestone achievement was overseeing additional works for a large mixed-use development, from technical due diligence to design and implementation. The experience strengthened his technical and managerial capabilities and remains a highlight of his career.

Outside of work, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family, who he credits as his greatest motivation. His favorite line from the movie Hitch reflects his grounded outlook on life:

“Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink — but if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love; if you must steal, steal away from bad company; if you must cheat, cheat death; and if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away.”
