Ground Specialists, Inc. implemented excavation support and slope protection systems to stabilize deep foundation excavations and protect surrounding areas during construction of a condominium development.

Due to the project’s highly sequential nature, GSI’s activities were closely coordinated with excavation works, requiring immediate mobilization as each work area became available. The presence of underground utilities in certain sections also necessitated a phased execution where back works had to be done even after other areas were already completed. These conditions demanded careful planning, adaptability, and sustained coordination over an extended timeline.

For the sides adjacent to the roadway, GSI applied soil nailing and shotcrete. For areas with existing structures or underground facilities, a ground anchor system combined with shotcrete was used instead. These systems were selected to provide reliable excavation support while accommodating varying site conditions.

Despite schedule constraints, coordination challenges, and pandemic-related disruptions, the project was successfully completed and turned over in full, meeting its engineering and safety objectives.
