Following our recent Project Profile on a large-scale mixed-use development, we take a closer look at one key component of the slope protection system: drainage.

Within the same project, Ground Specialists, Inc. implemented strategically placed drainage canals to manage surface runoff and protect stabilized slopes from water-related damage.

Water is one of the primary factors affecting slope performance. Without proper control, runoff can erode soil, reduce slope strength, and increase the risk of instability over time.

To address this, drainage canals were constructed to intercept and redirect rainwater away from the slope face. This helps prevent water buildup and minimizes the impact of surface flow, especially during heavy rainfall.

As part of an integrated system that included soil nailing, hydroseeding, and erosion control measures, the drainage network plays a critical role in maintaining the overall stability of the site.
