The site presented a mix of silty sandy gravel, fractured rock, and large boulders, which made drilling and stabilization more difficult than typical soil. Located near the coastline, the excavation also faced significant groundwater inflow, impacting the support’s stability requirements.

To manage these conditions safely, GSI implemented a combination of soil nailing and shotcrete, supported by:
- Specialized deep drilling to penetrate complex soil and rock layers.
- Continuous ground monitoring using instruments such as inclinometers and extensometers to track even the smallest ground movements.
- Proactive water management, coordinated with dewatering operations to maintain safe pressure levels.
