Behind every slope secured and every project delivered on time is a team of engineers working with precision, coordination, and a strong sense of responsibility. One of them is Engr. Mark Gil Abon, Project In-Charge with GSI’s Operations Department.

A licensed civil engineer from Isabela State University – Ilagan Campus, Engr. Abon joined GSI nearly three years ago and quickly established himself as a reliable site operations leader. His work spans shotcreting, soil nailing, slope netting, excavation support, riprapping, and gabion construction.

Among the many assignments he has handled, one project remains especially memorable: a slope protection undertaking that involved a wide range of works, including tunnel activities, with a manpower count that grew to over 140 personnel. The scale and diversity of the work taught him valuable lessons in coordination and adaptability.

With GSI, Engr. Abon has learned about the complexities of slope stabilization and navigated demanding timelines and tight project sequences. This has taught him the value of discipline, collaboration, and thoughtful planning. But what he treasures most is the camaraderie: GSI is more than just a team to him, they’re a family.

Outside of work, Engr. Abon unwinds by playing mobile games and watching anime. His guiding perspective reflects both curiosity and purpose:
