Ground Specialists, Inc. carried out slope stabilization works for a mountainous project site in preparation for future underground excavation activities. Before tunneling operations could proceed, the surrounding slopes needed to be secured to help reduce the risk of rockfall, erosion, and ground instability near the planned tunnel entrance.

To reinforce the mountainside, GSI implemented a combination of soil nailing and shotcreting in critical sections requiring structural support. Additional slope protection measures, including erosion control mat installation and supplementary soil nails, were applied across surrounding areas to help stabilize exposed soil surfaces and support long-term erosion control.

The terrain presented significant access challenges due to steep slope conditions and limited working space. In high and difficult-to-reach areas where conventional access systems were impractical, GSI deployed certified rope access personnel to safely carry out stabilization works directly on the slope face. This specialized approach allowed critical protection measures to be installed efficiently while maintaining safe working conditions in complex terrain.

The project highlights GSI’s capability to deliver slope stabilization solutions for demanding environments where access limitations, terrain conditions, and future excavation activities require careful planning and specialized field execution.
